National Security Advisor McMaster on North Korea: "We're Out of Time"
McMaster: "We have to be a little patient here for at least a few months" on US strategy towards DPRK before seeing what adjustments to be made.
@POTUS "This is a global threat that requires a global response."
The only thing ratcheting up tension on Korean peninsula "is the North Korean government," says McMaster.
DPRK not just a threat to the US, explains McMaster. "Denuclearization of North Korea is the only acceptable outcome."
US will respond to DPRK with all its capabilities, reiterates McMaster.
China will always acts in its own interest, but this is an area where its interests really aligned with US, adds McMaster.
@POTUS "It's both diplomacy and sanctions working together. China is definitely doing more but obviously it's not enough" on DPRK.
"That's something that's under consideration," says McMaster, asked about US designating North Korea a state-sponsor of terrorism.
"I don't think the president really modulates his language," replies McMaster if there'll be different tone expressed by @POTUS about DPRK.
McMaster: @POTUS to use Asia trip to urge "all responsible nations" to convince North Korea that nukes "a dead end" and past time to denuclearize.
US willing to defend itself and its allies from the DPRK threat "using the full range of its capabilities," says McMaster.
Strengthening international resolve to denuclearize DPRK is at top of @POTUS agenda for Asia trip, says Gen. McMaster.
